About

I’m Gus. I work as a software engineer and live in Seattle. Most of my day-to-day is in the cloud — backend services, distributed systems, the unglamorous plumbing — but the projects I write about here lean physical: hardware, sensors, things on the balcony, things that actually move.

This site exists because I want a place to publish writing that lives longer than a tweet and isn’t owned by a platform. It’s static HTML built from Markdown, served from a small VPS, and intentionally light: no JavaScript at runtime, no analytics, no comments, no newsletter modal.

If you want to get in touch, my email is [email protected]. I read everything; I reply to most.

The source for this site lives on GitHub. It uses pandoc, a roughly 80-line Makefile, and about 250 lines of CSS. There is no JavaScript framework, no static site generator, and no plan to add either.
